Corporate Communications Consultant

Introduction

Working at Jones and Palmer, you would have the opportunity to use the skills you have learnt studying for your MBA, or equivalent experience, and put them into practice by working in a Corporate Communications role in our consultancy team. We have roles available for communications consultants to help our clients to tell their story to the marketplace, enabling better decision making on the back of your expertise.

You may have particular expertise in, or have focused your studies on the following areas: Marketing, Strategy, Finance, Leadership.

A comprehensive training programme will be in place to put into practice, and enhance, your MBA skills, or equivalent experience, in line with our consultancy offering to deliver to our clients’ need to communicate with the corporate marketplace.

This consultancy opportunity will develop your skills and experience in;

  • Investor relations and corporate communications;
  • Thought leadership - researching market trends and consultancy offerings; and,
  • Collaborating with colleagues and teams.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities for this consultancy role include;

  • Critically analysing and reviewing clients’ communications (including Annual Reports and corporate websites) and prioritising proactive recommendations for improvements to make them as understandable as possible;
  • Structuring content and key messages to produce wireframes (blueprints) for Annual Report and website projects as well as scripts for video projects;
  • Engaging with clients’ businesses and the industries they operate in to provide solutions specific to their needs;
  • Working with the express purpose of making our clients’ businesses understandable with advice and insight into the ever changing regulatory landscape;
  • Seeking ways to enhance our offerings and exceed clients expectations;
  • Supporting at client presentations, meetings and conference calls, using skills and experience to explain our consultancy recommendations;
  • Researching trends in reporting and consultancy offerings;
  • Effective and engaging communications with colleagues and clients in line with our company values;
  • Collaborating effectively with other departments; and,
  • Potential opportunities for copywriting and copy smoothing.

Reporting Relationships

Reporting to: Director

Working closely with: Client Services, Creative, Studio and Production teams.

Qualifications, experience & skills

The successful candidate will hold or have experience in/with:

  • An MBA, or equivalent workplace experience within communications;
  • Analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify and highlight the important points;
  • An ability to approach tasks critically, constructively and with a questioning mind
  • An interest in creative thinking, using out of the box thinking to develop solutions;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written) necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • A drive to continually further knowledge;
  • Motivation and proactivity to work effectively on solo projects as well as an ability to collaborate confidently within a team; and,
  • Organisation skills to prioritise, manage and deliver multiple consultancy projects at one time.

Desirable skills

  • An understanding of (or interest in) digital transformation;
  • A keen interest in sustainability; and/or,
  • A creative eye or interest in layout/formatting of a document or website.

Mentoring and support includes;

  • Monthly 121’s to feedback on performance;
  • Ongoing mentoring via our Director of Culture and HR; and,
  • All relevant Consultancy Training and Development support via our Consultancy Academy Team Leader.
